Coonawarra Wine Region
By Chris • Jul 21st, 2009 • Category: Wine RegionsCoonawarra is a cool climate wine region in Australia and the name has become synonymous with cabernet sauvignon.
It’s one of the best paces in the world to grow cabernet sauvignon with ideal conditions including the rich, red, terra rossa soil, the long, cool, ripening season and the climate with low rainfall during the growing season.
The Coonawarra cabernet sauvignon is renowned for very concentrated, intense flavours that cover a broad range of blackcurrant, plum, cherry and prunes. The wines are full of flavor, not tannic and capable of many years cellaring.
