Angoves is one of the biggest, privately owned wine companies in Australia. It started when Dr William Angove emigrated from Cornwall in 1886. He was a doctor and had intentions to start up a general practice in South Australia but instead established a wine making business which is still family run today.

The first grapes were grown in Tea Tree Gully in the foothills of Adelaide. At the start there was a focus on a burgundy style red wine. The business grew steadily and expanded the focus to dry white wines, fortified wines and brandy. Now the Angoves name is one of the best known wine names in Australia and Angoves export to over 30 countries.

A new brand, Long Row, was launched in 2003 utilising the best fruit from the cool climate areas of South Australia. Other popular Angoves brands include Nine Vines, Long Row and Butterfly Ridge.
